day two. get inspired, updated and organized.

If you’re like me, it’s hard to envision your whole wedding planned out. What colors to use, what theme, what kind of wedding dress, what kind of bridesmaid dresses, bouquets, venues, photographers – the list is overwhelming. Wedding blogs are a great place to start when trying to gather up information. There are a handful of blogs that I read everyday. I have found information on venues that I would have never known about, vendors that are featured ranging from photographers to live bands, information on dresses, flowers, invitations. The information is endless. But that’s almost a problem in and of itself – it can get to be too much.

That’s why I’ve picked these blogs to keep up with on a daily basis. I’ve included a description and link to the blogs that I have personally found to be the most helpful:

Once Wed – the ultimate resource for brides who aren’t looking to plan the typical wedding:

Green Wedding Shoes – I love showing couples how their wedding can be more about them and that it’s ok to break traditions to make the day their own:

Engaged and Inspired – Let’s embrace the insanity for amazing details and pretty things that real brides with real budgets have. E&I inspires a fresh take on creative weddings without breaking the bank. We create wedding brilliance:

Snippet & Ink – my aim is to showcase a variety of highly-curated features, and to create a place where brides and grooms will see that there’s no one right way to have a wedding, that simple can be beautiful, and that meaningful matters:

The Loveliest Day – my collection of inspiration from the worlds of wedding, design and fashion. I have a deep love for all things charming, whimsical, and truly delightful:

There are literally a ton of wedding blogs out there. The good news that means there are different blogs for every kind of bride, so do your research, find which ones speak to you, and gives the most relevant information. That’s key – relevant information.

I use google reader to keep everything organized. It’s easy to use and its a quick and efficient way to read and keep several blogs together in one place. Google Reader lets you organize, search, categorize and use blogs just like emails. If you subscribe to a blog it automatically gets updated on your reader. Awesome.

When you open up google reader it gives a summary of the newest updates to the blogs you have subscribed to. On the left hand side is a listing of every blog that you’ve subscribed to  and you can organize these into categories. I have categories ranging from wedding photography to my favorite food blogs 🙂

You can add subscriptions manually by clicking on the red subscribe button on the top left of the site or you can usually find a subscribe link on any particular blog you are visiting. You can see my subscribe button in the middle right of the page.

Do some research, check out the blogs I’ve suggested. Get google reader and set it up. While your at it subscribe to your favorite photographer’s blogs and get to know their style. You’ll find inspiration and ideas from weddings that photographers shoot as well, and you’ll get to know a bit more about the photographers you are looking to book.

What are your favorite blogs? Is there any particular way you keep all of your information organized?
